It was a very rainy day at practice today receivers had a very hard time catching passes but let’s get to it.
Day updates:
Peter Bowden released to sign Jacob Eason
Packer’s rework Royce Newman’s contract
Matt Lafleur says AJ Dillion is in the best shape he’s ever seen him
Jaire Alexander exited yesterday’s practice early, only overheated, and is back today
Elgton Jenkins working at center yesterday was cross-training and limiting Josh Myers snaps on day 1 per Matt Lafleur
Javon Bullard was asked yesterday how comfortable he is in the Packers D. as a rookie safety during day 1 he said: “I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t even like the word ‘comfortable’ No disrespect, but I don’t really like that word, especially in this profession because the second you get comfortable, somebody’s got your job. and I don’t even have a job yet.” Matt Lafleur didn’t even know he said this, but was fired up when he heard he did saying “I want guys to get comfortable with being uncomfortable”
STARTING LINEUPS:
O-LINE:
Walker - Jenkins - Myers - Rhyan - Tom
Stokes opposite Jaire
Evan Williams at safety with Mckinney today
Carlson is 6/6 on kicks today
Joseph 5/6 on kicks today
PRACTICE DETAILS:
Lukas Van Ness starting off good in practice and gets some work on the inside on an obvious pass down with the twos
The offense can’t do anything at all right now, The defense is completely and utterly dominating
Rashan Gary has 3 sacks in 4 plays at this point
Edgerrin Cooper just flew in like a missile for a diving pass breakup what a play for a rookie
Andre Dilliard has no shot at blocking Rashan Gary. It's just a massive mismatch. Gary with his 4th “sack”
Another Sack by Gary he is unstoppable today
Carrington Valentine has had a nice start to camp and has 2 pbu’s today
This Packers defense is absolutely flying around today. We'll see how they are when Jordan Love is back though.
Aj Dillion with a huge run up the middle and had a huge amount of burst/acceleration most anyone has seen from him in a long time if at all
Devonte Wyatt forces a fumble on Sean Clifford, knocking the ball out of his hand, or the ball may have hit Sean Rhyan and Wyatt may not have forced it, Wyatt was right there though.
Rashan Gary is all over a Josh Jacobs run, Rashan is so darn violent at the point of attack, Somehow, someway Rasheed Walker contained him pretty well. Rashan Gary and Preston Smith force a throw-away. This D-Line is just relentless, O-Line is a bit of a struggle to start camp.
Sean Clifford uses hard count to get the defense to jump, but throws a duck right into the ground, wet ball playing a factor I would assume.
D-Line getting pressure today. Rashan Gary isn’t even in and he’s going nuts. hypes up Kingsley Egnabare, and stares down the O-Line group, and chirps at them
Two deep attempts from Clifford were incomplete. One to Musgrave (pbu by Mcduffie) other to Doubs (another pbu by Valentine)
Egnabare sack #3, tough start to camp for Andre Dillard
Evan Willams pick six on Clifford to start the next team period. Soon after Anthony Johnson Jr gets a pick (not for six though)
Now, The rain has let up a bit.
Takeaways from the first team period:
Evan Williams starting at safety not Bullard
Still Stokes opposite Jaire (shocked Stokes hasn’t pulled a hammy or rolled an ankle yet lol)
Egnabare 2 sacks and had a penalty for lining up offsides
Watson struggling to hang onto the ball today (could be the rain)
No new injury updates
Rhyan and Morgan rotating at RG
Jonathan Ford (2022 6th-round pick) had a sack. He’s Looking better
SECOND TEAM PERIOD:
Edgerrion Cooper flies down the middle and reaches in front of Christian Watson for a PBU on a short pass from Clifford.
Grant Dubose with a good grab from across the middle, ball was a tick behind him from Michael Pratt but plucked it.
Kicker Greg Joseph is good from 33 yards, 39 yards, and misses from 44 yards (wide right)
That’s it for practice today. A very rainy day and a completely dominant day for the defense led by the defensive line.
The offense does pushups for losing the day, and some fan decided to shout “Do the pushups Love” (referring to Jordan Love who was at practice helping and offering pointers)
